The Rose Trip is a new all-female orienteering and charity trek open to entrants from all over the world. Its desert course takes teams of three through south-eastern Morocco’s Merzouga region.
Teams won’t be timed, but their ranking determined on how well they understand and interpret their unfamiliar surroundings. During the trek, each team will only be able to use a compass and a coded roadbook to reach waypoints placed along the desert.
The course has been created by Désertours, an adventure race organizer with experience in setting up tailor made races in the most remote regions in the world. Over Désertours’ 30 year history, more than 35,000 participants have taken part in their desert rallying and sports events.
The trek organizers have taken extra precautions to ensure that The Rose Trip causes the least impact on the surrounding desert environment. Participants are required not just pick up after themselves, but to also collect any trash found along the way.
Last and certainly not least, The Rose Trip is an adventure trek that supports social causes. Participants will contribute funds to the acquisition of hardy Draâ goats for a women's cooperative established by the Enfants du Désert and for the support of women who fight against cancer with Cancer du sein, Parlons-en!
Each of the teams taking part in the trek will also receive a YB3 tracker that will allow them to communicate with race organizers and display their position to family and friends as they make their way along the course.
We wish everyone taking part in The Rose Trip a safe journey through the desert - YB Tracking is with them every step of the way!
