YB Tracking and the Rebelle Rally: Empowering Women to Navigate the Ultimate Off-Road Challenge!

Look up the Rebelle Rally; you'll see it's not your average race. It’s the first of its kind - a thrilling, all-women, off-road navigation rally that covers over 1,500 miles of desert in Nevada and California.

With absolutely no GPS or mobile phones permitted over the full eight days of the competition, and teams relying solely on their navigation skills, this challenge pushes the limits of competitors' endurance, precision, and ultimately, teamwork.

This is where YB Tracking plays a crucial role. We provide the teams with satellite-enabled real-time tracking to ensure both safety and reliable connectivity throughout the desert race.

Real-Time Updates, Precision, and Safety

In a race as demanding as the Rebelle Rally, safety for all the teams is always a top priority. Knowing where racers are at all times in such an exposed, barren environment is critical.

The YB3 Handheld Tracker delivers highly accurate GPS positioning via the globally available Iridium satellite network. It automatically transmits teams' race positions in real-time. Furthermore, the device enables competitors to send and receive texts or emails anywhere on Earth with a clear view of the sky - all from the palm of their hand.

The tracker's robustness makes it ideal for extreme desert weather conditions, and the reliable satellite-enabled connectivity ensures that teams can receive support 24/7, every step of the way. The YB3 Handheld Tracker also provides the teams with additional peace of mind, knowing emergency SOS is always within reach and powered by an incredible battery life of up to 12 months.

Sharing the Journey

For friends, family, and fans who may be watching and monitoring the race worldwide, YB Tracking makes it easy to feel a part of the Rebelle Rally experience.

With our intuitive YB3 Race App, everyone from rally organisers to supporters can track the rally live. The real-time tracking platform provides interactive maps, so supporters can follow their favourite teams, check their standings, and see exactly how they’re tackling the course. It’s not just about competition - it’s about storytelling and sharing the adventure of these incredible women with their vast number of supporters.

As the rally progresses, every checkpoint, every dune conquered, and every time record broken is captured through YB Tracking. The sense of community and team spirit created by sharing these journeys makes us an integral part of the Rebelle Rally year after year.

Points Mean Prizes

There are several ways to win the Rebelle Rally.

Firstly, navigate to checkpoints - which are sometimes marked with a flag. Here, the difficulty or volume of flags makes up the score and provided teams made it to the checkpoint by sending a waypoint message from the YB3 Handled Tracker.

Secondly, navigate to unmarked checkpoints; here, a waypoint message is sent via the YB3 tracker when teams think they are in the right position, and points are awarded for how close they are to the actual checkpoint. But, they must be careful. If they're too far away, negative points are awarded.

Finally, the Rebelle Enduro Challenge (REC), requires competitors to make their way from A to B, usually through four time controls. This is a speed and accuracy challenge - enter the time control from the wrong direction and teams will be marked down.

The YB Tracking team work closely with the organisers to set up very precise geofences to ensure that only participants using the 'correct' route are awarded points.

All scores are tallied over the eight days of competition and a winner is announced!

2024 Winners

Making history for 2024, Subaru takes its first-ever X-Cross win, with Team 204 - Carey Lando and Andrea Shaffer - driving a 2014 Subaru Outback. This year is the first time the duo has teamed up, though both women bring 12 years of combined Rebelle racing experience.

Team 129, Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit, competed in the rally for the third time in four years. This year, they stood atop the winner's podium as the 4x4 class winner with their Jeep Gladiator Mojave. The vehicle is the only Jeep brand to carry the Desert Rated badge, combining a new level of off-road capability, and mastering high-speed desert and sand terrain.

We’re so proud to be the official race-tracking partner, supporting all the bold women of the Rebelle Rally to navigate the unknowns of the desert with such precision and confidence. Congratulations Carey and Andrea on a history-making win this year and Nena and Teralin for their 4x4 class win!
